It all started with a very long dog.
Long Dog began with a simple idea: make a crochet dog that was a little bit different; not perfect or realistic. Just… long.
And somehow, that was enough.
What started as a crochet character soon became something much bigger. Long Dog developed a personality, a wardrobe, a growing collection of adventures, and a habit of showing up in places he probably shouldn't.
A Character Made to Be Loved
Long Dog was created by Trish Hoskin, the designer behind Fat Lady Crochet. After years of designing crochet patterns, Trish wanted to create something that went beyond a single project — a character people could make, play with, give as a gift, and return to again and again.
Long Dog became that character.
He isn't just a crochet pattern. He's a little invitation to slow down and make something with your hands.
And once you've made him, you get to decide who he becomes.
Maybe he's a gift for someone special. Maybe he's a companion for a child. Maybe he's sitting on your shelf making you smile. Maybe you've made him an entire wardrobe and he's now considerably better dressed than you are. There are no rules.
And Then Came the Outfits...
Long Dog, it turns out, has places to go. So naturally, he needed clothes.
A lot of clothes.
His wardrobe has grown from simple seasonal outfits into a collection of costumes, adventures, celebrations, and just plain silly ideas. Each one gives Long Dog another little story to tell, and gives makers another excuse to pick up their hooks.
Welcome to His World
These days, Long Dog's world extends beyond crochet.
There are comics, stories, colouring pages, characters, adventures, and plenty more on the way.
Some things are made to be crocheted, some are made to be read and some are simply made to make you smile.
That's the idea behind Long Dog: a little world where making things is worth slowing down for, imagination is always welcome, and there's always room for one more adventure.
